China's Future Mega Projects (2016-2050)

"China is embracing mega projects at an unprecedented rate and will - over the course of a few decades - complete a phase of infrastructure that will rival what the United States has built in its entire history". Beijing’s Views on Norms in Cyberspace and Cyber Warfare Strategy

An insightful analysis by Jake Bebber for the Maryland-based Center for International Maritime Security (CIMSEC) is republished by the Centre for Security Studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZurich).  

It examines how China uses cyberspace operations to advance its national interests and strategies by dissecting (a) the central role of information operations in China’ competition with the US; and (b) Beijing’s strategic use of international norms and institutions in cyberspace.

Bebber also examines how the US can respond to China’s cyber strategy, and what he describes as Beijing’s wider effort to work through the American built political, information, and economic system in order to supplant it.

A useful context for this is China and Cyber: Attitudes, Strategies, Organization, an in-depth 34-page research paper dated 2016 by Mikk Raud of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) in Tallinn, Estonia. This examines China's cyber challenges from an integrated set of social, economic, political, military and national strategic perspectives.
