A report from Global Futures and Foresight suggests that rapidly-expanding and disruptive digitised technologies will define the second decade of the 21st century. It says,
...... the pace and extent of change is, with the current transformation happening 10 times faster and at 300 times the scale, or roughly 3,000 times the impact, of the Industrial Revolution. Those that refuse, or are unable, to change their business models and legacy systems (whether cultural, organisational or technological) are losing ground to start-ups and a new range of competitors."
"54% of organisations predict they’ll be out-innovated and possibly fail within five years if their digital transformation plans prove unsuccessful".
This echoes The Future Reinvented – Reimagining Life, Society, and Business, a book published on 22 December, 2017 by futurists Rohit Talwar et al. which predicts 40 key trends shaping the emerging landscape, including business, production, money, work, driving, travel, food, life and society.
You don't have to believe everything in these futurist predictions to realise that much more than before, to stay ahead of the game, an open, alert and forward-looking mind plus adaptive and fast footwork are critical to survival and profits in the 21st century.
